August 1, 2024 — As an opening activities of the 15th National Electrification Awareness Month, an Information Education Campaign was successfully conducted today to address crucial issues concerning the local community's energy consumption and rights. This significant event was led by the GSC I District Director, Ms. Jessie F. Alaban.
The campaign aimed to educate the residents about SOCOTECO II and their rights and obligations as Member Consumer Owners (MCOs). Special emphasis was placed on the provisions of Republic Act 7832, the Anti-Electricity and Electric Transmission Lines/Materials Pilferage Act of 1994, particularly on series connections.
Ms. Alaban highlighted the importance of understanding and adhering to the legal framework governing electricity consumption. She explained the potential consequences of illegal connections and encouraged the community to report such activities to ensure a fair and safe distribution of electricity.
A total of 101 residents who were actively participated in the discussions, expressing their concerns and seeking clarification on various aspects of their rights and responsibilities as MCOs. The interactive nature of the campaign fostered a productive dialogue between the community members and SOCOTECO II representatives.
